Sue Stockdale

Keynote Speaker & Executive Coach. Helping Leaders Navigate Uncertainty.

The Defining Moment

In 1996, after thirty days skiing across drifting Arctic Sea ice with a team of complete novices, I became the first British woman to reach the Magnetic North Pole.

What made that expedition remarkable was not my experience — I had none.

I had never cross-country skied.
Never travelled in polar regions.
Never hauled a sled across moving ice.
Yet the expedition succeeded.

That experience reshaped how I understand leadership: progress rarely comes from perfect preparation, but from curiosity, judgement, teamwork, and the willingness to move forward despite uncertainty.

The lessons learned there continue to inform the work I do with leaders today.

Why This Work Matters

Every leader faces their own version of the unknown.

Strategic change.
Growth without precedent.
High-stakes decisions.
Responsibility carried quietly.

My role is not to provide answers, but to help leaders expand perspective, strengthen judgement, and navigate complexity with greater clarity.
Exploration simply provides a powerful lens through which leadership becomes visible.

Professional Leadership Work

For more than two decades, I have worked internationally as a leadership coach, keynote speaker, and facilitator supporting senior executives across global organisations.
Clients include leaders from over 400 organisations, including FTSE 250 and Fortune 500 companies across finance, technology, energy, sport, academia, and government.

More than 15,000 leaders worldwide have participated in programmes, coaching engagements, and presentations.
